3 - 4 Days Ubud Itinerary: Spa, Jungle & Yoga in Bali

I have been to Ubud three times now and everytime I visit Ubud it gets busier, hotter and chaotic. But that doesn’t mean you should not visit Ubud.

In fact, Ubud is the perfect base to see the outskirts of Bali, thrive a lil bit in slow living and find pockets of greenery to slow down (yes, slow down ironically!)

I spent my months finding the greener spots of Ubud where there is more breathability and quaint things to do.

Read my 3 days itinerary on what to do in Ubud and why I think it is still worth a visit.

Is Ubud Worth It?

here’s my 3-4 days ubud itinerary that i loved. Shot in the cafe scenes in bali!

I am so torn sometimes because it keeps changing as more people visit and the city is chokehold in smog and traffic. I say you should spend about 3 days here before heading to other parts of Bali.

You should also know that there are Ubud has so many different areas and most of the day trips if you leave early, you won’t be bothered by traffic.

When you arrive back in town, spend your time relaxing in the afternoon by a pool and spas because they’re completely worth it!

I had a great time attending yoga classes, waterfalls, temples and rice fields and also doing the purification ritual. A lot of people also spend their time at Cretya mostly for the swings and pools, but there are so many alternatives to this.

When To Visit Ubud

the weather was perfect in april - blue skies!

Timing can make a big difference and personally I prefer:

🌤️ April to June & September to October (my pick): This is that sweet spot. It’s right before and after peak crowds, the weather is still decent, and things feel just a little less intense. Also, gorgeous blue skies!

☀️ July to August (peak chaos): This is peak season and you will find a lot of packed cafes, and everything moving a bit slower because there are just soooo many people. If this is the only time you can go, it’s fine, just plan your days earlier and stay slightly outside the centre.

🌧️ November to March (rainy, but underrated): This is actually when Ubud feels the most alive to me. Yes, it rains but usually in bursts. It is usually in Canggu where there are floods but in other parts of Ubud it is ok!

Time of day matters more than season: More than anything you have to wake up early. Ubud before 9am and after sunset is a completely different place. Midday is when it gets hot, crowded, and a bit overwhelming.

📍 A small tip I learnt the hard way: Stay just outside central Ubud. Even 10–15 minutes out can change your entire experience as you get way more quieter mornings, less traffic, and more slow living vibes

3 Days Itinerary: What To Do In Ubud

Day 1: Hotel Check In, Traditional Lunch, Spa & Kechak Dance

my hotel room in shakara guesthouse

For the hotel stay and check in, I highly recommend staying close to the city so you can do all the city stuff like spas, lunches and unique experiences before moving out the last two days. But if you want a more idyllic experience stay in Suara Alam in Ubud.

The place I stayed in Shakara Guesthouse at the beginning was really nice and comfortable. The area was not well-lit at night but during the day it was still walking distance to so many nice eateries!

Have Lunch at Sun Sun Warung

the most yummy meal i had in sun sun warung, ubud

This is the most iconic place to have a proper Balinese meal, Sun Sun Warung — I have been here twice and I absolutely love the satay, nasi goreng, sambal chilli and the drinks.

It is also such a nice vibe to take in the beauty of Bali, Indonesia.

Ubud Palace & Ubud Art Market

This is probably one of the first places you’ll end up in Ubud and it is not hard to miss. I loved the architecture and it has that classic Balinese carvings which you will take a moment to appreciate.

There is Ubud Art market just right opposite the Ubud Palace and I personally didn’t want to spend too long here because of how chaotic it was.

If you’re done with the crowds, I would stop at Tukies Coconut Shop to take a breather and get some coconut ice cream.

Book A Riverspa Experience

the ultimate jungle spa experience

Everything about Ubud is jungly and what better way to have that experience by having a jungle spa experience. I loved loved this place and for the price it is insanely affordable.

You get to have a flower bath, listen to the river water flow while getting a massage! You also get a nice welcome drink — for this price in Ubud itself you won’t get the serene kind of experience.

Watch The Kechak Dance

If you make it in time, you can opt to watch a Kechak dance. The Kecak Dance performances in Ubud are held at different 4 venues. The dances start usually at 7pm but you can arrive 30 mintues before.

You can book your tickets here closest to your accomodation.

Day 2: Tegallalang Rice Terrace, Purification Ritual & Waterfalls

the tegallang rice fields

waterfalls you must do on this tour which I highly recommend

I loved the rice terraces and it was one of the best day trips that I did in Ubud. It also is worth to take a guide here (this tour covers the rice fields, purification ceremony & waterfalls) because getting a taxi in and out is a challenge, and for a good price you get transportation, someone waiting for you and they can also bring you to a coffee plantation after the Tegallalang rice field tour.

They are knowledgeable and can give you insight into the farmers tending the fields while showing you viewing points not many people go to! I loved how calm and beautiful it was on the morning we went.

Grab a coffee at one of the small warungs facing the valley, not the big cafés, but the quiet ones higher up the slope.

As this is a whole day tour, prepared to be out the whole day.

Day 3: Experience The Healing Side of Ubud: Yoga & Rice Fields

Stay in Raditya Villas Ubud or The Rice Joglo

my stay in raditya villas

If you want to see a different and calming side, I highly recommend staying in Jalan Subak Soh Wayah — it is the only walkable side of Ubud amongst paddy fields.

The only caveat to get here since it is a bit deep: you need a motorbike or the hotel guest owners gladly offer this service to pick you up and drop you.

I stayed in this wonderful guesthouse called Raditya Villas Ubud. It is airy and clean, and awesome. Another great place to stay in that area is The Rice Joglo. You can’t go wrong in these places as it is walking distance to some amazing cafes and cute bohemian hangout spots.

Explore The Yoga Scene Here

morning yoga at ubud yoga house

Just within walking distance there are atleast two yoga spots that you’ve to try their morning yoga session.

You can try the sunrise or sunset yoga at Ubud Yoga House or the yoga sessions at Body-Mind-Soul.

✨ P/s: If you are looking for a digital detox, this 7-day personalised wellness retreat in Bali is pretty amazing. Book it here

Soak In The Cafe Scene Here

having a slow moment at green lander restaurant cafe

I loved the cafes in this area and my favourite cafes were I Mustache Cafe and this bohemian spot called Rumah Tikus Slow Bar. Everything about this place was amazing from the rendang grilled cheese to lattes.

For lunch, I had it at Green Lander Restaurant with amazing calm vibes surrounded by rice fields constructed by bamboo architecture. Their juices were really good and the perfect place to sit down and relax.

Go For A Sari Organic Rice Field Walk

i ran/walk here in ubud and it was the most peaceful time during my stay

If you are looking for a walk to just go somewhere, this is the best place to walk you can start from the Tandoor Indian restaurant all the way to Pyramids of Chi and at the end stop by and sign up for their sound healing classes which is what I did at the end.

Day 4: Day Trip to Mount Batur Brunch Views

brunch views in the morning at a cafe called blue mountain

If you are extending your time in Bali, you have to spend your extra time seeing Mount Batur.

If you’re up for a hike and adventure, you should absolutely book your hike up to Mount Batur here.

But if you are with your folks who are elderly and want a chill experience, I absolutely recommend getting a driver and driving all the way to Blue Mountains Cafe in Kintamani.

I left at around 5am and reached the cafe at 6am for sunrise. It should take you about an hour drive but I had the best views of the volcano and it was such a nice slow morning with chilly weather overlooking the gorgeous sunrays of Kintamani.

🌟Value for Money: You can also make it a day trip by doing the sunrise, zipline and Cretya Day club tour which is far more worth it for the experiences you’re getting!
