1 to 3 Days in Hvar Itinerary: Blue Waters, Coves & E-Biking

I spent three days exploring the sunny islands of Hvar in Croatia and I am so glad I did.

If you’re talking marbled streets and proper Dalmatian flavours, Hvar easily makes the list. I mean it was ranked as one of the most “sunniest island in Europe!”

This is where the Adriatic really starts to show off, I am talking hidden islands, blue waters and meals that begin with olive oil and end with truffles.

There’s a fortress above the town, vineyards that go on forever, and the kind of blue sea that makes you forget what time it is. I did mini hikes, walked around the sea and found cosy cute cafes to hide away from the sun!

Here’s the 1 to 3 days Hvar, Croatia itinerary of what you can do.

TL;DR – Everything You Should Know About Hvar ☀️

everything you should know about hvar on this 1 to 3 days itinerary.

Here’s what I personally found helpful: adding them here in case it helps you too:

  • 🚢 Ferries to Hvar – I booked my Split to Hvar ferry in advance to avoid the queues. You can check timetables and prices here. You can mainly use Jadrolinija ferries!

  • 📶 Travel SIM/eSIM – I used Airalso e-sim for data on the go. Super easy to set up and saved me from hunting for WiFi.

  • 🛥️ Island tours & Blue Cave – The Blue & Green Cave tour is touristy, but still worth it for the sea colours alone. I’d also recommend a cruise to Hvar and the Pakleni islands.

  • 🛏️ Places to Stay – You could stay in the Old Town or in Stari Grad :

  • ☀️ Best time to go? – I went in May. The best time to visit is anytime from May to September.

How To Get Around Hvar?

walking around in hvar’s old town

Hvar’s Old Town is super walkable. I went everywhere on foot. It is so easy to just climb up the Spanish fortress and wander around near the beaches.

But if you want to go beyond the main town like to Stari Grad, Jelsa, or some of the quieter beaches, just rent a car.

There are local buses that connect Hvar Town to places like Stari Grad and Jelsa. You can take the buses from the Old Town here.

If you’re heading to nearby islands or beaches like Pakleni Islands, it’s cheaper to join a group tour.

The Perfect 1-3 Days Itinerary: Hvar Island

There’s been plenty written about Hvar from the marbled streets, Venetian rooftops, and that golden Mediterranean glow.

And sure, it’s popular (20,000 visitors a day in peak season will do that to a place), but honestly all you need to do is dig a little deeper and go off the beaten path!

Here’s how I’d spend 1 to 3 days on the island with some early starts, fortress climbs, market mornings, and dips in crazy blue waters!

Day 1: Get to Know Hvar Old Town

a view of hvar from the spanish fortress

you’ve to hike up the napolean fortress for a view of the pakleni islands

Start early with a stroll through Hvar’s Green morning market: I love the cheeses, fresh fruit and veggies here. Stop at a local brunch spot (we popped by at Eywa Hvar - Restaurant & Bar) enjoying a slow breakfast by the beach.

Before the sun gets too aggressive, hike up to the Napoleon Fortress. The trail winds through pine forests, and from the top, you get panoramic views of the Pakleni Islands stretching across the Adriatic. The islands are crazy stunning!

After descending, swing by the Spanish Fortress (Fortica). It’s an easier climb and gives you that postcard-perfect shot of Hvar’s red-roofed town and harbour below.

Spend the rest of the day wandering the Old Town, getting lost in the alleys, and finding a gelato spot with a sea view.

One of the best places to chill for me was at Bonj Beach!

Day 2 – Island Hopping & Swimming Spots

the best time to do is find swimming coves like this. look at those blue waters!

I would recommend spending your day in the blue waters of Croatia!

You can book a sailing tour to the Paklinski Islands and visit Brac islands as well as the Solta islands for snorkelling.

If sailing’s not your thing, you can hop onto a boat that drops you at Palmizana Beach, just 20-30 minutes from Hvar. The return ticket is 15 euros and you can come back anytime from 4pm to 7pm.

When you’re back in the Old Town, chill with a sunset drink at Hula Hula Bar.

Day 3 – E-Biking around Hvar & Lavender Fields

e-biking around hvar island - the best way to go off the beaten path.

If you want something completely offbeat, this is such a cool way to get on an e-bike tour and head towards Stari Grad.

You’ll find quieter, more local vibes because of these family-run konobas. Honestly, such a great way to explore and grab lunch somewhere away from the crowds!

You should also take a detour through Brusje or Velo Grablje, especially during lavender season (June–July), where the purple fields stretch against dry-stone walls.

If you have time, don’t forget to stop at a local winery for a tasting session. There’s even an e-bike tour with wine tasting and starters if you like this kinda option!

You should know: this island grows its own varieties and the views from the vineyards are stunning!

End the day with a swim in the sea at Dubovica Beach, a little south of Hvar Town. The walk down is rocky, but the cove is so worth it!
